Wilderland Adventure Company was founded as an innovative social enterprise focusing on bridging the gap between disconnected youth and Manitoba’s great outdoors. We serve individuals and groups to provide life changing experiences in our community. We offer year round programs, tours, courses, and outdoor professional development.

We have become an essential partner for schools, corporate teams, families, and commercial tourism partners. The heart of Wilderland is to inspire and support local organizations, especially the Church to use outdoor adventure as a tool to enhance their outreach, discipleship and leadership development. We believe that outdoor activity can be safe, really fun, and truly rewarding.

Here at Wilderland Adventure Co, our goal is to create outdoor adventure experiences at the highest quality while making them affordable and accessible to everyone. We have a Base Camp located in beautiful St. Malo Provincial Park. This is where we host our camping adventures and many of our courses and workshops. Only 40 minutes from Winnipeg, this quiet location provides an accessible gateway to paddling, hiking, camping, and other outdoor activity.

PROFESSIONAL GUIDES

As expected, we provide only certified and experienced outdoor leaders. They each hold minimum OCC Field Leader, Wilderness First Aid, and have extensive guiding experience.

We use clean, maintained, and high quality equipment. This ensures safety and comfort for all our participants and guides during all of our outdoor programs.

We are always looking to expand and grow our team. We would love to hear from you!


Qualifications:
Our guides have a passion for the great outdoors and at least some experience working with children, youth, and adults in an outdoor setting. Wilderland Adventure Company is a fantastic place to gain experience and skills. We provide necessary training for activities we provide and encourage our guides to become trained and certified with qualifications that are becoming the standard in the outdoor industry.

Minimum Requirements:
- Post-secondary education graduate (or pursuing) in a related outdoor field.
- Wilderness First Aid (minimum 20 hour course) for day and overnight base camping guides, and minimum 40 hour certification for overnight wilderness guiding with preference to 80 hour certification.
- Police Background Check.
- Child Abuse Registry Check.
- Class 5 Drivers License (Class 4 recommended).

PLUS...

Camping, Hiking & Backpacking Guides:
- Outdoor Council of Canada Field Leader certification (FL for day hiking, Winter for winter activity, Overnight for multi-day guiding).

Canoeing & Wilderness Canoe Tripping Guides:
- Outdoor Council of Canada Field Leader Paddle certification (FL for day paddling, Overnight for multi-day guiding).
- Paddle Canada Camping Leadership certification *NEW 2023*.
- Paddle Canada Introduction Canoe Skills for Assistant Guides, Intermediate Canoe Skills for Lead Guides.
