OCC FL OVERNIGHT
This certification is an extension of other Field Leader courses. Students must have complete at least one other Field Leader course prior to registering. This module will review and deepen the event cycle and offers effective group management techniques for longer outdoor trips. Students will be required to read a 80 page manual and complete attached quizzes before attending the module. Module length is 20 hours of instruction time, most of which is spent outside, plus one night outdoors. Graduates of the FL (Overnight) module are qualified to lead longer trips in low-risk terrain classes relevant to their activity. Pre-Course Orientation: ZOOM conference call to meet the instructors and go over any course details. This meeting is typically 3 or more days prior to the course from 6-8pm in the evening.
Day 1: Meet at the course venue as informed by the course instructor. A "last minute checks" and pre-trip go-through before heading out onto the trail as a group. Instruction and evaluation is ongoing throughout the course. The group will camp overnight a campsite.
Day 2: Will conclude with packing up camp and more time learning on the trail as we return to the trail head. The course will conclude with a written exam and individual debrief with the instructor.
PLEASE NOTE: Prior to the course, participants will receive the OCC Student Manual and will be expected to read through the manual and complete the quizzes prior to participation in the course.
We operate our courses rain or shine, UNLESS our guide(s) deem it unsafe due to lightning or heavy rains and/or unsafe water conditions such as high waves or strong winds. We typically adjust the course to remain safe. We MAY cancel tours due to low enrolment if we have less than 4 participants.
In light of this, any cancelations initiated by Wilderland Adventure Co. will be fully refunded.
Cancelations initiated by participants are subject to the following terms:
1. Cancelations made more than 21 days in advance of the tour start date are fully refundable.
2. Cancellations made 21 to 14 days in advance of the course start date will forfeit a $25 cancellation fee, and will receive refund of remaining balance paid.
3. Cancellations made less than 14 days in advance of the course start date will forfeit any balance payments made.
